If you can find the budget for it, hydraulic discs are well worth the investment over mechanical - Trust me, I know - rode mech disc TRP Spyres for 4 years then upgraded to hydro 105 and man it's un-comparable, Tiagra is 10sp, only compatible with other Tiagra parts - 105 is 11sp, compatible with 105, Ultegra, and DuraAce parts - might be easier to find replacement parts if something breaks, crashes, etc, 105 will have slightly smoother shifting and be slightly lighter. Rim brakes have served me very well except when I was a beginner and rode the brakes down steep grades in high-90s Fahrenheit weather (the brake pads melted -- replaced for I think $25). Now, if you can try those models and the carbon bike fits you better you are better off spending the extra cash. But in your case, high end aluminium frames don't differ that much, IMHO. Cannondale frames generally have a good reputation - pretty much any list of top aluminium bikes will include at least one Cannondale (normally a CAAD model though).
